Depeche Mode...surprisingly awesome live show. I'd agree with your assessment of both, though.

Take a break from debating shitty music and listen to some good stuff.

First of all, it's the ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame. Abba is in no way, shape or form a rock and roll band.
That, in a nutshell, is why this is all just beyond a joke at this point.
As for Rush, they should be in, but whatever. They don't care and it's not going to happen unless some new blood takes over.
It's strange to read some people's views of Rush (that they are basically automatons or whatever). Those of us who follow Rush know that those guys are very funny and they are definitely self-deprecating in much of their humor.
Alex Lifeson in particular is hilarious (and not a bad actor to boot).
    Anyway, carry on.

    Indirectly.

The hall has never defined itself that narrowly. You can't pretend rock has no relation to other forms of music. That's why people like Miles Davis and Johnny Cash have always been part of it.

Possibly. But the "hot chicks" aren't in the "Mamma Mia!" musical and weren't in the movie.

What's there? The songs. That tells me something.

I agree. There's no doubt rock has its roots. If we stuck to those that were actually influential (the old blues artists, etc.) that would be fine.
Abba and so many other bands that are in the RRHOF don't fit, so the title doesn't fit.
Clearly it's the Popular Music Hall of Fame.

    1. Yes, the movie sucked.

    2. If any Tom, Dick or Agnetha can perform the vocals, then doesn't that mean that the songs are the key and the women just interchangeable parts?

Technically...Kiss, AC/DC, Zeppelin and The Who aren't "rock and roll" bands. They are "rock" bands. Rock and Roll in its original form hasn't existed since the early the 1960s, but I know I am splitting hairs.

What will this place do when The Replacements, The Smiths, The Pixies, New Order and all the other great alt rock bands of the 1980s become eligible?

    Do they ignore them?
