They should call it Aquabro. Momoa, who hasn’t been asked to try very hard since Stargate Atlantis, hasn’t put much other than “muscled-up Hawaiian beach bum” into his role thus far.

My feeling about the DC Movie Universe was that it should have been rebooted with Wonder Woman as the new beginning. Everything before that should have been removed from canon and it starts over with WW, then goes into some other characters like Flash, Green Lantern and Aquaman before coming out with recast Batman and Superman movies.

In a way, this might have made it like the current comic version of Earth 2. The heroes there are called "wonders" instead of "superheroes" because Wonder Woman supposedly came before Superman.

I read Phoenix Resurrection and I've been reading X-Men: Red, so I'm very familiar with Jean Grey's return. I also read AvX. They would have to make quite a few changes to that one because bringing in Hope Summers would be be a mess.

I agree that her return is worth checking out. This is the version of the character that helped draw me in to X-Men stories in the 90s. Her entire first storyline in Red was all about compassion and connection overcoming hate. I still haven't seen that version of Jean in the movies. The movies have mostly been about her being confused and struggling with her powers. The one moment of her fully being in control was sacrificing herself in X2.

I doubt Dark Phoenix is going to help anything but to hasten the demise of that group of X-Men. If anything, I could see them starting over with a new group of actors in the MCU. The exception would be Deadpool. I bet they could have some fun with the entire cast around him changing, but Ryan Reynolds is still breaking the fourth wall.

So, um, if Christopher Reeve is your Superman, you're old enough that Michael Keaton (maybe even Adam West) should be your Batman. So the fact that Bale is your Batman kind of proves the point that there is reason for investing in other iterations of the characters.

It's not about chronology for me - the Keaton/Clooney/Kilmer Batmans were always playing second-fiddle to the villians. I'm not saying you can only have "one" iteration - only that for me, if I see a movie and its various sequels with a certain actor - knowing I'd be investing in three more films (at least) makes me reluctant to sample another.

That is absolutely your right to do so. It just means there is a good chance you will miss out on something very entertaining.

Sometimes it is just a scene or two that you miss. I can't say I love Affleck's Batman, but the warehouse scene in Batman v. Superman showed us something we never really got to see with Bale.

I enjoyed Maguire's Spider-Man right up to the point that they made a mess of Spider-Man III, but Holland's version is better. Some of that is just timing. Holland's version is more current so it hasn't had to hold up over time yet. He has already played Peter Parker three times, as many as Maguire did, though two were in ensemble pieces. The airport scene alone in Civil War showed me it was worth investing in the new version.

Not sure if this was mentioned already (do not have time to read the entire thread at the moment) however, one thing I want to note is that the video with Ant Man says archive in the corner.
