Your all-time favorite band

An easy pick for me. I love a lot of "classic rock" bands, but The Band is the all-time favorite.

 

Pearl Jam. I can literally remember the first time I heard them, seeing the video for "Alive" on Headbangers Ball. No small thing to say that band has touched my life in a ton of ways. I've got a lot of bands I like, but they are hands down my favorite.

Mine too. It's not even close really. Having a little more time and disposable income in recent years I've also been able to travel to some shows. It has only grown that love! Not sure how much my wife has liked it, but it has gotten her out of the house some.

 

I like the Band. Love "The Last Waltz," movie and album.
Saw the movie in the theater way back when it first came out.

I especially like Levon Helm and Rick Danko.

Robbie Robertson, though, was an asshole.
And I never thought he was all that talented, either.
He does love the spotlight, though. Even when it's the other guys singing.

So, so many great tunes. Paul Weller exhibited a depth and maturity well beyond his young years. That's Entertainment is one of my all-time favorite songs. Butterfly Collector is a riveting listen.

I was never able to see them in the '90s because first I was a poor kid, and then a poor sports writer with a kid, and I couldn't afford to travel to see them for a long time, too. So my first chance to see them live was in OKC in 2013 (I live in Tulsa). Wife and I went and she said it was like watching a kid open presents on Christmas. I was so into it. I don't think she totally understood just how much I they meant to me until then. We went to the Tulsa show in 2014, but we haven't gotten to travel to see them yet. I'm hoping we might be able to do some September shows. OKC if nothing else. (Horrible story: I had fan club floor seats for the original OKC date for this tour, but because of some pandemic-related financial difficulties, I had to return them because we needed the money more than I needed to hold onto tickets for a show that hadn't been rebooked yet.)

 

Decided to look up MSB because of this thread.

 

I saw them in 98 in Denver and then 02 in Omaha, living in both places at the time, then not again until 2013 when we combined it on a family trip and saw them in Phoenix. I went to four of the home and road shows, then both Ohana Encores last year and have tickets to five of this year's shows, starting with Phoenix and Vegas in May. Have Nashville, OKC and Denver in September. All were from 2020 but added Vegas. Couldn't resist! Also all Ten Club seats.

When we saw them in Seattle in 2018 I was like the Christmas morning you described. I am a bit of a merch guy, although not as bad as some and mostly for posters, and we got up at like 6 to wait in line. But it was a fun time and met so many cool people. Waiting in the line at Ohana met a couple of people that had been to 130-plus shows. Another guy said being in the merch line was like Pearl Jam sport, which is so funny but true. It's fun traveling and being around all the other fans. If you can swing it sometime, try to do a few shows in a row like that. It is an experience that is for sure.

Sorry about the original OKC tickets. Such a tough thing but understandable. Hopefully something comes up on the fan-to-fan sales whenever those happen.

Yet I have somehow still never seen them live.
