Lunch, depending on the day: Grilled cheese or liver sausage. Almost always, a Twinkie (well, two Twinkies) for dessert.

Dietz and Watson Corned Beef is wonderful and worth time time for a reuben. And its a much better sandwich on Onion Rye than rye. Of course, here in the south, trying to find good onion rye is like ... you can't do it.

And I remember when I was a kid, I hated the smell of egg salad so much that if someone tried to sit next to me with one in the grade school cafeteria, I told them I was allergic and they had to move...

How 'bout Dorrito's on PBJs? That makes for a strong PBJ.

Regular potato chips on a bologna sammich is also a nice addition.

Egg salad? I love me some eggs, but that just doesn't sound good.

Talked about this at the bar tonight.
The rural South winner was peanut butter mixed with Karo syrup on white bread. Except for the one guy who was diabetic and couldn't eat such things.
Next up was grilled cheese, then peanut butter and grape jelly. Leftover holiday meat - turkey, ham - between leftover dinner rolls was a popular but strictly seasonal choice.

Substitute Bob White syrup and I'm there.

As a kid, grilled cheese. Just cheese and buttered bread please. If I want vegetables, I'll hit the salad bar. With tomato soup.

Now, tuna melt. My favorite now is at Ruby's. Tuna melt, thin fries, a chocolate shake and a defibrillator. Mmmmmmm.

And buckdub, pass along that egg salad recipe. I've got a dozen eggs in the Norge waiting.

Childhood: toasted pimento cheese at the local drugstore. There was a soda fountain. I would ride my bike up a steep hill to look at the comic books--they came in on Tuesday--and eat a pimento cheese sandwich. Or two, if I had mowed an extra lawn that week.

Have my tastes changed? Well, now it's egg salad on toasted whole wheat with lettuce. I put calamata olives in the egg salad. When I was a kid, you couldn't have force-fed me a calamata olive.
