Selfie kid at the Super Bowl.

Given our embrace of instant celebrity, I’m surprised there aren’t more of them.

Hate that the first person I thought about was the "Cash me outside" girl from Dr. Phil.

Second person I thought about was Chewbacca mom.

Both of them had zero talent, and yet turned 15 minutes of fame into a "career."

That's a different woman. You're thinking of Michelle Jenneke, the Australian hurdler.

Doesn't fit. Sir Edmund was already famous enough that Hillary Clinton's parents named her after him six years before he climbed Everest.

I use a kindle fire at home. Sucks for typing, and the voice-to-text leaves a lot to be desired.

Actually, Snopes has disproved the claim by Hillary C that she was named after Sir Edmund. She has said in the past it was the case but prior to 1953 Edmund Hillary’s name had never appeared in a US publication so it’s extremely unlikely that a Chicago housewife would have read about him in her hospital bed in 1947.
Basically he was still a complete unknown to the world at large until he climbed Everest. He was a beekeeper in NZ who had some climbing chops.
As well, she’s full of it.
