RE: Wright... please, let it take less time to read it about the game than it will to play the game.
    RE: 93devil... awesome story, dude.
RE: Jonesy... It has to be our Chris Lynch.. karma wouldn't have it any other way..

    Thanks Slap.

HB, that might be the toughest question to answer.

Seriously, if I was there, I would not even know where to begin. I would think it would be like figuring out which of the Playboy Bunnies to talk to at the Mansion. You know you can't go wrong, but you obviously want the prettiest one.

Mother's Day. I was at my grandmother's. Heard it on the radio, and it gave me chills.

I can't wait to read your story and forward it on to my dad and brother.

What was lame about the pregame? Was it not cool? I thought it was on TV, but I am a Yankees fan.

Went to a game when I was about seven. Steepest upper deck ever, but being there with my family was great. Can't remember who they played.

Before the renovation Yankee Stadium had more charm and aesthetic appeal than Fenway and Wrigley put together.

My dad took me to my first game at Yankee Stadium on June 23, 1966 -- my eighth birthday. He pulled me out of my second-grade class right before lunch period, we put on our aviator sunglasses and plaid sports shirts, made sure we had mechanical lead pencils for the scorecards, jumped in our '64 Pontiac Catalina and headed for the Bronx.

It was a Thursday afternoon contest with the first-place Orioles, Jim Palmer against Al Downing. We sat in lower-level reserves, a little on the first base side behind home plate. These seats were eventually called box seats but in those days the only boxes were the field-level boxes in front of the walkway. Behind the walkway were reserve seats and behind the view-obstructing stanchions there was general admission seating.

Brooks Robinson hit two homers for the O's, while Joe Pepitone and Mickey Mantle homered for the Yankees in a 5-2 loss. Game lasted 2 hours, 10 minutes with Nestor Chylack behind the plate (credit retrosheet for this information).

Afterward, dad took me to a favorite hangout for a pastrami sandwich, pissing off my mother who had prepared my favorite meal (charcoal-grilled London broil) thinking we'd be home promptly afterward for a birthday dinner and cake.
