A very good point here. I can't think of a band I didn't like that I cared about enough to hate.

I actually agree with you on this.

I think you can discern "hatred" from "I just don't go out of my way to listen to them".

Do I *hate* Isbell? No. I'll listen to him sing here and there but the music doesn't stir my senses.

Do I *hate* Springsteen? No. All-time performer but again, no my cup of tea.

I don't hate any music. I don't like country in general but I like Jerry Reed. All depends on the music.

As for Phish, I listen to them all day in the gallery; either them or the Dead. I saw Phish on 12/28 at MSG. There might not be a better concert right now. They put on a helluva show, as good as it gets, except for when they turn a strong 8-minute song into a 22-minute travesty because Trey's eyes get lost in the back of his head, somewhere east of outer space. The fucker doesn't know when to cut if off sometimes.

Can't believe I forgot to mention Coldplay.

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac was awesome.

Mid-period Fleetwood Mac with Jeremy Spencer and Bob Welch was quirky and sometimes interesting.

Mega-period Mac from their white album in 75 to Tusk in '79 kicked ass.

1980s Mac, drenched in Buckingham's synth and techno doodling and with Stevie Nicks disappearing in a cokey haze, just seemed irrelevant.

I think it was the manager of Oasis who described Coldplay as "bed-wetter music." I'm often reminded of that comment when I hear their music.

    Soulless hippie.

Anyway, I caught part of a Green Day doc last night and was reminded how much I dislike pretentious punk.

I pride myself in being able to tolerate almost any music. Even if I don't like it, I appreciate it for what it is and the effort it took to produce. But Styx, man. Styx tests that resolve.

C'mon, this is an all-timer. Much of their other stuff, not so much.

Dookie is a perfect record for the gym, or sledgehammering a tire.
