Which makes that newspaper look even shittier for printing a story "well they made the playoffs, but they lost their best player."

I didn't read all the stories. What happened to the ref after the incident? Did he continue reffing the game? Injuries? Ambulence? Did anything happen on the way to his car afterward? Oh yeah, horrible headline.

The kid obviously is a stud. He undoubtedly has been told how great he is since he was 10 years old and he has feels bulletproof. Lots of athletes are like that. One time a major league ballplayer asked me how come the writers are so nasty to the players. I said people have been telling you how great you are since you were 10, it's our job to try to keep you grounded. I was kidding, of course, and he got a good laugh out of it but then he thought about it and agreed.

He was examined for concussions and shoulder injuries onsite and did not return.

One of the stories I read said the player was called for a personal foul/unnecessary roughness for throwing a lineman to the ground, then called for a second when he attempted to sack the quarterback on the same play after the whistle was blown. The second flag triggered words from the player, and ref said something back, and then the back to back personal fouls gets the automatic ejection.

The only reason for him not to play again is if he’s a senior and there are only a couple of games left. It’s Texas and football. He’ll be back, not because he deserves it but because there are no real consequences anymore. A pro player whacked a guy in the head with helmet on TV and got half a season vacation.

I’m surprised but gladdened by the decision to remove the team from the playoffs.

This right here will get him banned from athletics. Kill a guy, he is misunderstood. No shot at a state title? Oh that's a paddlin'.

I had read that he took a lineman to the ground after the whistle. Didn't read about the quarterback on the same play.

Again, Texas plays under modified NCAA rules. And the foul for a late hit/unnecessary roughness like what has been described is an unsportsmanlike penalty under NCAA rules. Then if he was jawing with the referee and it crossed the line, which is apparently did, he would get a second unsportsmanlike penalty and automatic disqualification.

In the other 49 states under NFHS rules, the late hit personal foul/unnecessary roughness would be just that. You can rack those up all you want. But then the jawing with the official would be an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. In theory, unless he went really over the top with what he said, he would not be automatically ejected, only if he got a second one later in the game.

Glad they're out of the playoffs. Glad he's been charged. And hopefully it won't be a slap on the wrist. And that the official gets better.

    Just a deplorable situation.

Why are we glad the team is out of the playoffs? Its the running back, quarterback and kids who were in the huddle minding their own business’ faults the one lineman is a complete asshole?
