It usually includes certain deleted scenes. Fabrizio getting his comeuppance, more young Vito revenge murders in Sicily, a visit to Abbandando's deathbed, etc.

    Well worth watching.

Interesting. I love the Michael/Vito parallels in the sequel. I would think the back third of that version would feel more like a by-the-numbers mafia movie, a la Casino, without the cuts.

I actually don't prefer either version. Depends on my mood.

But the lack of fabrizio's comeuppance was a mistake to cut from Godfather II.

Give "Dances With Wolves" this ... it finished second in using two-note music riffs in the soundtrack. Can't beat "Jaws" but what can in the category?

OK, I'll just say it: I liked Dances With Wolves. It by no means comes near my Top 10, but I was very pleased with my viewing experience after seeing it.

And, like Coldcat, I likewise don't get all the grief and ridicule it takes today. I think part of that just comes from this deal where it's become cool to rag on everything associated with Kevin Costner (which I also don't fully get), and I'd bet a lot of people who now mock the film were praising it two decades ago.

It did not deserve the BP Oscar over Goodfellas--because Goodfellas was frickin incredible--but it was a worthy nominee. There certainly have been worse BP selections.

Never saw Dances With Wolves, but I like Costner, too.

And he comes across as more genuine, and more likable, than Tom Cruise.

Kevin Costner is fine, but Dances With Wolves was so preachy and shallow. I would take Forrest Gump over Dances With Wolves any day.
