    Guilty.

I never did find out if it was really her. But I remain convinced it was.

Found this crazy love thing, embarrassed to post it, but what the hell....how I wish we had the whole thread. Dozens of pages of love and broken hearts and confessions and passion.....after our young friend Simon asked 'Is there a such thing as love?
    --------------

Simon: The best advice anyone can give you is this: Stop. Don't look for love, don't worry about it, don't think about. You will not find it.

    Love finds you.

Maybe she's someone you've known forever, or someone you chat with online. Maybe she's sitting next to you at a basketball game, or you accidentally knock her over at the concession stand. Maybe she's already your best friend and you never even noticed her eyes.

But somehow, she gives you a piece of yourself that you didn't even know you had, or forgot was there. When you're with her, you are exactly the person you always wanted to be. It's easy, comforting, miraculous, and you cannot get enough.

And when your friends talk about getting laid or hooking up, you feel sorry for them, because they still don't know what you know, that there's no connection between having sex and making love, and that making love with someone you are deeply in love with is one of the most powerful experiences in the universe.

Then: this relationship evolves. A crossroad, for sure, as the dizziness and giddiness and obsession wears off, to be replaced by....what? Are you disappointed by the letdown that the 'best part' is over? Or do you believe that the best part is still to come...a deeper understanding, a deeper bond. You realize love isn't about flowers and songs; it's about understanding and patience and being there to catch each other when life feels like a freefall. It's about forgiveness in spite of inexplicable stupidity, and laughter in spite of wrenching sadness. It survives time and distance and insurmountable obstacles. Love is what you see when you look in each other's eyes, and there is not a single word to describe the moment.

Love is the future. Promise yourself you'll never get married just because 'it was time,' or because it was expected. You get married when you know without a single doubt that you are waking up next to the person who makes you wish you could stay in bed longer, and who you can't wait to be with again at the end of the day. Just to talk, laugh, and find the peace of mind you cannot find with anyone else.

And one day, Simon, when you're the man I know you will be, you will someday hold your own child for the first time...and that, my friend, is when you truly know what it means to be in love. That is the love that defines everything you do, everything you are...for the rest of your life.

    Happy Valentine's Day.

Junkie, yeah, this place is a Star Trek convention. But you seemed to be saying that contemptuously... Why are you here among the Boogers and Lamars of the world?

  6. I say this seriously, as one of the elder folk hereabouts, the level of passion people bring to these threads makes me feel good about the future of our business, and is aobut the only thing that does.

I love it when junkie picks the petals off a flower with a flame-thrower.

Whew . . . add Junkie's musical freakouts to my top 10. The Floyd battles are absolutely priceless.

I love Rush. I thought Bubbler was dead wrong, and I would say that trmpeting the Stones' musicianship over Rush's is being contrary just for the sake of it.

But in a post where you pump up Rush, you can't inslut a place you perceive as being full of geeks. It is common knowledge that the ranks of Rush fans are largely made up of Star Wars and Star Trek geeks, Lord of the Rings geeks, and Dungeons and Dragons geeks. They're not a band for the ladies. They're a band for dorks.

Even if I think they are awesome.

Going through my albums this weekend I found a Rush LP that has another drummer. Is he the Pete Best of Rush?

    I honestly had no idea.

Yeah, that's right, John Rutsey. Holds a sign at exits on Canadian expressways saying "will drum to Working Man for food"

Was it like the Beatles deal? Was he too good looking to be in the group?
