I remember you, 21, repeatedly and emphatically insisting you would not be sucked into rooting for the Cubs down the stretch, then in the playoffs. And ... you almost ... managed ... to ... avoid watching ...

    I might have peeked. I can't recall.

    Shoot, take me. Please?!

And while you guys are at it, find me a Genesis ticket for one of their North American dates. That might be the only thing I'd like more than to see another Rush concert.

I listened to "Seconds Out" on my long drive to BFE last week, sir.

--"On Sportswriters, and the Ignorant Masses for Whom They...." by Alma. The title was so long it didn't fit on the thread, and Alma's post that launched it required seven NASA engineers and three gaelic translators to parse it. Ran about 300 pages, included a Kinks singalong led by Boom and Spaceman, and a Christmas Carol singalong several months later. Was it about anything? I have no idea. Best thread ever.

--The Anti-Shoutout Thread that resulted in NCEditor (not a typo) hiding under the rug and giving the rest of us a new reason to hate Mondays.

--Simon's love thread---truly brought out the hearts and flowers of the board's crabbiest curmudgeons.

--Webby's willingness to bring the board back to life after numerous crashes, hijackings, and very bad people.

--The Original Original Night Crew....which amounted to the seven members who actually signed on at night. We saved Headbutt from the DC sniper, sent Jonathan the Soccer Fan back across the pond, solved the Third Secret of Fatima, and explained to 92Bdad that we would not be reorganizing the board by sport, then by team, for his organizational needs.

--Redswriter's thread on his impending marriage, on which the World's Biggest Putz tried to make the case that women will do anything for material gain, including sex and marriage...this was before 'hos' was in fashion, I think he just went with the old-fashioned 'whores.' Unfortunately for him, he then decided to delete his account, leaving his work email address showing on every sicko post. Webby had to shut down the board for an hour, cleanup in Aisle Five.

(How many is that...six? I got more...)

Outstanding. That it starts with "Squonk" only adds to the joy of listening to that set.

"Firth of Fifth" and "Supper's Ready," along with "Squonk," make "Seconds Out" one of the nifty little listens of theirs. But there's no substitute for the "In the Cage/Cinema Show/Colony of Slippermen" medley in "Three Sides Live."

Has it been that long? Wow. And again, the board's motto should be "we never forget" because you brought up some brilliant, hysterical moments in this board's history.

To be fair, Pittsburgh can be a dreary town with crappy weather and mullet-wearing women. Though to be fair, I do know of two absolutely fantastic women up there, so it's not a blanket statement.

--The only thread I ever printed, 'Stuck in the Airport with Liza Minnelli'....still cracks me up every time I read it. I must have had something weird for lunch that day.

--The beautiful anonymous PM friends who can tell you anything, and you can do the same. The greatest people I will never know.

--'Crossed Giblets of Death': I have no idea why you people are so entertained by my mother. Heartless bastards, all of you.

--Terry Haute. One day, BYH will finish our Summer of '03 novel, and he will be the richest guy here. Until the rest of us sue him for copyright infringement.

--The parodies: Boom's PK parodies, BYH doing Lupica, ChrisL convincing the board he had been hired by the Post.

--First and last...Boom. Indulge me. It's not every day you meet a guy in a tacky sports bar, and find out you already have an anonymous crush on each other. Like it says on Simon's thread: You don't find love...it finds you. :-*

You pretty much heard the rumor correctly. Steve Hackett was interested ... but Pete wasn't. To boot, Gabriel's schedule is still pretty full for the next couple of years.

And because Pete wasn't coming back, they didn't see the point in bringing just Steve and making it a four-man group (which is a shame ... while that lineup did just two albums before Hackett left, those releases were undoubtedly two of their top five).

If they were to do a one-off, forget The Lamb. They have enough other good pieces from the Pete-era catalog to make a top-notch show without doing The Lamb in its entirety again.

21, solid list, even though I would have guessed your outing Lugnuts as a female in the great massage debate would have been up there.

SHE OUTED HERSELF! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A MALE-INITIATED NO-STRINGS MASSAGE!!

It did lead to another great thread, though 'The Women's Room'....for the half dozen women posting here at that time. Lugnuts and I discovered we had a very heated argument on the old board, about why she didn't want to post as a woman. Good stuff.
