I would put the former 6 of 7, Jeri Ryan, in the 21 role. The math's off, but the makeup department can do wonders.

That was his first thread? Wow. I didn't remember that. Yeah, I think that's the thread where someone remarked, "Hey asshole, did you know your last name's an adverb?"

    Correct, perhaps on both counts.

('Crossed Giblets of Death,' I giggle into my 9th glass of wine.
'21, did you say something dear, did you have some of the nice wine Marcee brought, such a clever idea to sell wine in a big box like that, no cork to fumble with, just this plastic spigot, and you get so much MORE this way,
what were you saying about death?"
"I said Crossed Giblets of Death."
"I believe it's pronounced with the hard G, dear, as in Gravy....not the J sound...Kiblets, not Jiblets...don't you agree, Lou? About the kiblets?"
Lou has a mouthful of peas.
Brother steps in. "I think Mom's right, don't you Marcee? Think Mom is right?"
Mother: "Do you have a dictionary, 21, we could look it up, I am very sure it's the hard G. Of course, I know that's a cooking word, not a sports word, I can understand the confusion, perhaps, we need to look it up? Is there cheesecake? I hope not, what kind? Should we play Candy Bar Charades?')

I'm late to this, but I wanted to include five things I've learned about and come to enjoy solely because of SportsJournalists.com.

    1) The Things They Carried, my favorite book, thanks to Double Down, my favorite poster.

    2) The live version of Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac, the one where Stevie Nicks is screaming "Never get away!" at Lindsey Buckingham.

    3) Missoula, Montana.

    4) bigsausagepizza.com

    5) Chris Snow.

And, of course, drinking partners in Toronto, New York, D.C., Baltimore, Chicago, and most memorably, Minneapolis.

    So is my life richer.

I'll be at the Hollywood Bowl July 23rd for this. Can't wait.

JR, where are they playing in Toronto?

Well, look what I found ...

    ;D

I linked to a printable version on the letters to the good people of the world thread. Here is the actual, live thread.

Lots of laughs about remembering lots of laughs -- and the poignant shit too (random "The Paper" reference, just for kicks).

    What memories. Wow.

Ha ha. Three people are now printing this thread. I'm too discreet to name them.

    :)

Sadly, I was around for very little of this. Sounds like lots of fun.

Reading this now, years later, still made me say "oh YEAH!" about several threads I'd forgotten. Awesome pull.

I'm so glad you pulled this out on a day I've come to play.

Reading this thread made me wistful as hell.

There are so many names where you go, "Hoops McCann - What the hell happened to him?"

Or, I remember a couple of posts from dog4734, or whatever number dog is... I don't remember much about him except that I enjoyed his posts and liked him... Where is he now ?? :(

These were people I connected with... and now will never know. Even if I do meet them in real life, I won't know they were them.

What we had here is so far gone, and can never be gotten back.

    I'm feeling so melancholy now.
