Chef: Have to agree. The Three-Lettered One was (is?) one of the most polarizing members I've seen come through these parts.

He's not even the most ubiquitous catcher in that set. Joe Ferguson spits in Ray's general direction!

I guarantee you I still have about 10 of those in a box somewhere.

This thread makes me feel old. And Dools makes me feel angry.

Back when I was on the Original Night Crew (TM) way back in the good old days (when we used to walk to school in the snow uphill both ways, of course), I was endlessly single, far from home, far from college, bored out of my skull and wondering where my career and life were going. This thread almost makes me miss those days. :)

    Somewhere, Terry Haute is smiling.

Manny Mota says Joe Ferguson wasn't even No. 1 on his own team.

The Manny Mota card scared me as a kid.

MLB Network has been rerunning all-star games this week.
Brook jacoby came up the the plate in one game (want to say it was Montreal) and Jack The Dog gave me a look like "Oh. Sure. When I spit drinks on the floor, you get pissed...."

I love how it says Manny Mota played "outfield". I guess they couldn't put "pinch hitter". My guess is that Mota didn't see an outfield for the last five years of his career.

Brook played in two all-star games. 1986 in Houston and 1990 in Wrigley. :D

Went back and re-read a few pages of the original thread ... I had completely forgotten about the Katusha rockets Junkie and I both fired off over Rush. Pretty funny (and embarrassing) looking back.
