I tried to find it months ago. It happened sometime last summer. And I was hungover when I read it for the first time. Had me giggling for days.

I seem to remember a gas v. charcoal debate that spilled into several other areas including the sexual predilictions and ancestral legitimacy of most involved.

    Great call, zeke.

    - JDV, his lack of brevity and priceless avatar

    - COCKDION, RAMBOO, ETC

    - The Take Care Of Yourself thread...hell, it might have saved a few lives.

    - The running baseball threads that seem to go 50 pages in a matter of days

    - Funny moments. Whether it's Bubbler on Wal-Mart or some clever (or obvious) one-liner, this place is always good for a spit on the keyboard

    - The design thread

    - The running game threads. When something noteworthy happens, it's always cool to see the reaction here

    - Whenever someone brings up a serious personal matter (depression, cancer, death) and the advice/stories that come out

    - Music thread...it's good to know another guy out there digs Butch Walker

    - Any day that goes by without a mention of Whitlock

We are a gender-neutral site. Seriously. It's OK to be a dingy broad here. Even FB won't hold it against you... unless you're Condi Rice.

A few that haven't been mentioned:

--One of the best threads was when 21 got Dave Kindred in here to talk about his book.

--Tron's posts on the...um....gargantuan size of a college friend's member and his post about masturbating the family dog. I about died laughing at the post about the family dog.

    10 in no particular order...

    10. Fenian's absolute verbal disembowelment of mlb2005 on the Katrina thread. One of the most vicious, and well deserved, pieces of great writing I've ever read. Still have it saved. Here it is (the fraternity mug line really brings it home):

    9. 21's post about love. A beautiful piece of writing. Easily one of the 10 best in this board's long and complex history.

    8. Bubbler's running thread about what would happen if Hoosiers were real, and SportsJournalists.com members were posting while watching the game. A masterpiece. I felt honored just to get a tiny, inconsequential mention. Just getting the coding right was a feat of genius.

    7. HoopsMcCann's countless use of the phrase, "You're hired!" When he uses it on some unsuspecting newbie, it never fails to make me laugh. Never.

    6. Bubbler's answer to Junkie's argument about why Rush should be in the R&R HOF. The last line is just perfect.

    5. Any number of threads about The Wire, especially the most recent season, when people actually started to PM me and ask me when I was going to post my thoughts. Still ashamed I never weighed in on the final episode of Season 4, but I really feel like we took TV criticism to another level on those threads. It's a shame -- but also a blessing -- that we Wire devotees are so small in number. We make up for it with our passion and loyalty to the show.

    4. This is so weird, but the thread about when ESPN reporter Adrian Karsten died, and someone posted a hilarious story about him being in a room next to them once and banging the hell out of some chick for hours. For some reason, a poster revealed that they had heard, from multiple sources, that Karsten had a gigantic cock. Another poster confirmed it, saying it was the stuff of legend. Keep in mind, at this point, I'm not even sure Karsten's body is cold. I remember reading it and think, holy shit, Moddy is going to be so fucking pissed when he sees this. Then Moddy or Webby (I can't quite remember which) came on and was like, "This is hilarious." It was the strangest, but funniest, RIP thread I think we've ever had.

    3. This is old, but: Chris_L's fake night on the town with former Boston Globe sports editor Don Skwar. Chris, I think your political posts are looney toons a lot of the time, and I think your feud with JR has gotten out of hand, but this bizarre and yet hilarious fake diary of an evening on the town with a man who at one time was considered Public Enemy No. 1 around here, was hilarious. I believe it had people scratching their heads for several days wondering if it was real or fake, even though I believe it included a scene where you and Skywar mooned two cops, and you left Skywar to take the rap.

    2. jgmacg's creation the Writer's Workshop (with as assist from Webby) and his continued dedication to it. It is, in some respects, like going back to school, and the beauty of it is I feel like the student some days, the teacher others. Lasting proof that this place, despite its many faults, is worth returning to. And also a constant reminder, at least for me, that the best way to thank writers -- especially the ones more talented than you -- for giving you great advice is to pass that knowledge along.

    1. Got this random PM from a guy named typefitter like four years ago. Crazy SOB. Not sure my world view has ever been the same since. Fucking Canadians.

    HM: westcostvol's tale of "finishing on her grille. She wouldn't have it any other way."; Pickle Juice (which was fun at first, but then it went too far [/margeschott]; Boom's fake Monday Morning Quarterback post about Peter going downstairs to find Mary Beth stretching with her boyfriend for an early morning run; Jones tale of Jeter admitting to fucking Mariah Carey; Jones tale of Jim Fregosi's cock in his face; SF_Express hand typing Death of a Racehorse so we could read it because no link existed; Clubber doing an IM chat with the infamous Kelly Dwyer, and I got name-checked; the day Sandy went bonkers and publicly accused Webby of being, among others, 21, Spaceman, Mighty Wingman, Double Down (that's me), Clubber Slang, Kelly Dwyer, etc., leading to his permanent banning. 21 suggested that we form a club and print t-shirts;

Gosh. When I first saw this thread, I thought: "oooo, I know what my favorite threads are."
But after much thought and consideration, it's a much tougher task than originally thought.

I loved Bubbler's "fuckin' haircut" thread. And, the pickle_juice thread was priceless. I liked the Dr Pepper lip gloss threadjack. Can't forget the DC and Toronto outing threads. Some of the Barbaro threads - may that poor horse live in peace. Many thanks to IJAG's Secret Santa threads.

There are so many other "SportsJournalists.com moments." It's scary what this small world we call "home" has done for me and for others.

  10. I haven't been here long enough to have a Top 10, or even a Top 5, but if I did Double Down's long thoughtful posts would be on there ...

Any time I look at CI's movie posters with Murphy, I get a huge smile on my face.
