Agreed, although I disagree about Independence Day. That was a definitive summer blockbuster and was even released on July 4 weekend for chrissakes. Bill Pullman's awesome pre-battle speech, maybe the best scene in the movie, also hinges on it being July 4 in the movie.

If you take the date away you have the same exact movie. You couldn't call it Independence Day, obviously. It would have to be—and I'm spit balling here—War of the Worlds ...

    Sam-

She can hit a high note. There's more to singing than that.
The annoying song really is ubiquitous.
I've barely been in the car and it was on when I turned the ignition before an errand.
There are better Christmas songs than this.

Any discussion of greatest Christmas songs ever includes this gem I didn’t discover until a couple years ago.

Connelly riding the hobby horse is cliché.

The real chemical reaction comes at 2:12'ish when she and orange suit guy skate down the aisle and it shows her hips moving back and forth in slo-mo.

Those back and forth hips are why boys have chased girls since the dawn of time.

That’s not a Christmas song. It’s a song about getting dumped on Christmas.

For years, after I said goodnight on the Friday late news, I would play Everyone’s a Winner on my phone as I walked off the anchor desk for the week. The official end of the workweek.
