Cam Newton thinks female reporter talking routes is 'funny'

What do you think is Jordan Rodrigue's annual salary?

She was probably making in the high 20s or low 30s at her previous job. There's no reason the Observer would give her a huge raise. I'm guessing low to mid 40s. Does the Observer have a union situation or does McClatchy have a pay scale?

1. Veterans at the paper make decent coin (due to years of merit raises before things went to shirt), but many of those are gone now. I heard about a (since departed) veteran entertainment critic who mistakenly left a copy of his pay stub on the copy machine where anyone could see it. Salary: $84,000.
2. Jourdan Rodrigue is the secondary beat writer, hired last year to replace Jonathan Jones (who left for SI). Joe Person is the main beat guy.

Worth noting in Cam's apology to the general public that he never mentioned her by name, so it seems pretty hollow.

It's crazy to think about how much this affects both sides of this story. Newton (who took forever to make a "meh" apology) took a big hit out of all this. Rodrigue, who previously had an easily accessible Facebook account (which featured a picture of her and someone who comments suggest was Cam), hid her FB, closed her DMs and issued an apology and lost a ton of goodwill.

Pro tip for anyone who needs to scrub/search tweets. Just go on Twitter and type the following to find any tweets with a particular word:

He manned up and did it. The constant judging of apologies I find rather unsavory compared with a few years ago.

Let's see if Cameron 2017 can offer two good games in a row.

This is insane. why go to school for 4 years to make this as a NFL beat writer?

Because you want to be an NFL beat writer. It might be the one thing you always wanted to do. Money is important, but it's not the only thing in the world.

There are millions of people making less money doing things they truly hate. It's amazing how completely we have forgotten that.

There are still chances of making more as an NFL beat writer at some other places, such as The New York Times or The Washington Post.
