Sports Editor - The Kerrville (TX) Daily Times

It's absolutely gorgeous. The area is great. And you're well within striking distance of places like Austin, San Antonio and Houston. But yes, this paper has had A LOT of turnover in recent years.

    Last movie you watched......

Saw "Wonder Woman" last night. Gal Gadot is so awesome. Terrific casting. Hard to see anyone else playing Wonder Woman better. The movie was enjoyable and charming, but a bit too preachy, especially toward the end. It's like the director/producer panicked and rushed dialogue in case no one...

    Last movie you watched......

Yes. Completely agree. I don't understand what all the hype is about. The direction and writing were lacking. The acting is the only thing that saves this movie. Has Denzel directed any other movies? It really looks like a first-timer's work.

Brownsville Herald Seeks Full-Time Sports Reporter

I worked for a sister paper of the Herald's and covered stuff in Brownsville every now and then. Brownsville is very hot and about 99 percent hispanic. There's not much outside of high school sports, and Brownsville is only really competitive in soccer (it's won state championships within the...

    RIP Gene Wilder

Indeed. Great, great movie. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is a lasting memory from my childhood, and Wilder is a big reason why.

Fall preview tabs...anyone else still doing them?

Our high school football tab was 60 pages this year, up 4 pages from last year. We had 25 pages for editorial (We cover 33 high schools). It was my first time really in charge of the tab and its direction. It was OK. It could've been a lot better, and I hope it is next year. We had the...

    Last movie you watched......

Self/less. Not horrible. The "immortality" bit has been done before, but it was an enjoyable flick. Probably could've done a lot better than Ryan Reynolds as the lead role.

    Sports Editor, The Brownsville Herald

It's the same job. They just haven't filled it yet.

    Last movie you watched......

Just got back from "Mockingjay, Part 1." Loved it. Good depth, and Jennifer Lawrence is terrific. Solid film-making. I agree that it may not have needed to been split up, but I'll trust that it's deserving of a second act. Best of the series, by a longshort. The first was good, and the second...

    Last movie you watched......

Hmmm. I feel the exact opposite. Thought it was horrible. The score was awful, the writing was worse. Thought character development was REALLY poor. Mind you, I never read the book, but I just don't see what the hype is about. I actually think that the fact the author wrote the screen play is a...

    The wrath of youth baseball

At my last paper, we covered little league pretty religiously, simply because there was nada going on in the summer. I dreaded it. What was worse was that our city's teams were pretty decent, even a few World Series appearances. We would do features and gamers from the BIG games, but mostly huge...
