Topic came up over a few pints this weekend: who are the best sports journalists out there right now that are unaffiliated? Thoughts?
 
Justin Heckert and Pat Jordan have to be on the short list. At this time a year or two ago, Brian Phillips would have been, but Grantland has provided some with a regular outlet. I would have argued for Mike Graff, but he just went to Charlotte magazine as an editor.

Graff is a superstar. He really sucks at Tecmo Bowl, though.
