Computers taking away reporters jobs

AP wasn't doing briefs on Minor League Baseball games until this. If it was for Major League Baseball games, then it would be taking away people's jobs.

Yes. AP is just experimenting with taking away people's jobs. To

This idea has been around for at least a decade. It's hardly anything new and the crap these automated writing simulators produce is horrible. I guess it will eventually evolve like most things do but I don't see anyone losing their job over this anytime soon. Lame.

They've started rolling these out. Pretty basic 150-200 word briefs that might work if you want a brief or a capsule, but I think you could still take five minutes with the box score and schedule and write something better. Looking through a few of these, there's some that are fine and some that are not fine.
There's also some stuff they'll have to fix in the software, like not abbreviating Colorado when it's the name of the team.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Kyle Wren singled twice, scoring two runs as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 7-3 on Thursday.
Will Middlebrooks doubled and singled twice with two RBIs for Col. Springs.
Col. Springs grabbed a 2-1 lead in the fifth after Middlebrooks hit an RBI single, bringing home Orlando Arcia.
The Sky Sox later added two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth. In the seventh, Middlebrooks and Manny Pina both drove in a run, while Arcia drove in two runs and Andy Wilkins drove in one in the eighth.
Brent Suter (2-4) got the win in relief while Greg Nappo (3-5) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game.
Col. Springs took advantage of some erratic New Orleans pitching, drawing a season-high eight walks in its victory.

Col. Springs? Would you ever abbreviatew it like that?
