You spend a month in the nursing home with mama and you meet all kinds of nice ladies. Almost set up to succeed in that environment.

Another medical/health-ish place to meet nice women: the blood bank. In my experience it's almost all women working and more than 80 percent women donating, and you've got to have some kindness to go to the trouble. My wife is tired of hearing about it every time I get home from a donation.

I waited until today to turn the heat on in my place - it's literally been freezing here in Oregon and just crept above 5o about an hour ago. But really unbearablly cold after a mostly very mild October.

Also - waited until to day to break into the Halloween candy - to make sure it wasn't poison and such.

Here in Central Washington, we made it through all of September and two-thirds of October without running either the AC or the heat. It's been a really nice fall here in the Northwest.
