Cool of you to log on, Josh. Thanks.

Sure thing. This game's in the 13th inning and not going anywhere fast. I've got the time ...

Gee, I work at a paper named the Beaver, I guess every edition we put out is giggle-fest. Grow up.

Beaver heads have the same problem as my "Caps grab Peeters" head. Sometimes, you just can't escape the double entendre'.

Caps acquire Peeters

Peeters to Caps

Bruins give away Peeters

You didn't pick a great Bakersfield front to begin with. At 3 p.m., we had the racetrack story slotted as our cover story on sports. Unfortunately, it was a slow news day (apparently no cop shootings, foreclosure stories, politicians run amuck) so at the budget meeting, news side wanted the story.

Strategy for the design is single-copy sales. Entry points, yeah we've got a few but rack sales have been edging upward, while subscriptions have stayed the same.

You picked a bad day. Designer Billy Simpkins won a SND award for his Virginia Tech shooter front, so we have talent on staff.

I've posted a few of my sports fronts the past week on newspagedesigners. Here's a link to my portfolio: http://www.newspagedesigner.com/portfolios/portfolio1.php?UserID=5281

Hopefully in next few days, we're have a job posting for a designer. Still don't have clearance from upper management but just a heads up.
