"Fun" movies

Here's one I really like that's kind of old and obscure "Two Rode Together." It's a John Ford western with Jimmy Stewart and Richard Widmark in the lead roles. Three old pros going through their paces, ringing the chimes on Western movie cliches and Stewart, in particularly, hamming it up to delightful effect

Also Richard Widmark, and actually fitting more into the concept of this thread is "The Long Ships." Widmark plays a Viking adventurer, Sidney Poitier is a Moorish prince. Both do nothing but ham it up through the movie, which is beyond preposterous even by the standards of Hollywood treatment of the Middle Ages. Makes "The Vikings" look like a documentary.

"Dazed and Confused." I could watch that on an endless loop. And what, exactly, happens? Zilch.

"Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels." It's just a ridiculous combination of preposterous coincidences and over-stylized gab, but I have a ball every time I watch it.

"The Quick and the Dead" fits that mold for me, too.

Good call on "The Princess Bride," Ragu.

"I only came here tonight to do two things: kick some ass and drink some beer. Looks like we're almost out of beer."

The Mariel Hemingway guilty pleasure triple feature: Personal Best, Star 80, and the one with woody Allen perving on her

"Running Scared" with Gregory Himes and Billy Crystal. Used to be on TBS about 3 times a weekend, and I'd end up watching it each time.

From the "terrible but wonderful" section, "Gymkata." The thrill of gymnastics, the kill of karate!

Most spaghetti westerns are fun, or at least so weird as to be interesting fun.

Same for blaxploitation movies. I could watch pretty much any blaxploitation movie on an endless loop.

In fact, I will watch Nichelle "Uhura from Star Trek" Nichols from Truck Turner regulate right about now.

(Scathingly NSFW)

The "Bill and Ted" movies.

"Fast Times at Ridgemont High"

"Spaceballs" and "Robin Hood, Men in Tights"

The Man With No Name trilogy is praised heavily by critics, though, right?

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly is. I don't know about the other two.

And there's a gazillion other spaghetti westerns too.
