Bergen already unionized. Asbury Park Press, Home News Tribune and Courier News joined them this morning.

Good. Journalists have been getting absolutely destroyed by corporations and vulture hedge funds for decades. Fighting back.

In addition to the usual stuff that unions fight for, they also should fight against every single useless stupid initiative that Gannett comes up with. Make it negotiable.

Too little, too late, but I wish them well.
too late is right. More cuts are coming soon as ad revenues are down versus last year and digital subscriptions are paltry once you eliminate the discounted subscribers.

Unionized workers should have status quo protection until a contract is reached. So they would have some protection.

Yep. We're being rated by how many subs our stories bring in. And that's at a dollar for 6 months. What happens when they charge full price?

I dropped my digital subscription when my cut-rate offer ended. Sorry but streaming services (I have 4 and about to add 2 more) offer me more than a digital subscription to The Record. Sforza is the EJ Smith of his time.

Ive been trying to figure out to cancel my digital sub to the nearest Gannett rag for a few months now. Embarrassed to say I keep giving up after hitting dead ends.
