Good enough for an obit in The Plain Dealer

At one of the papers around here, they apparently brought in some guy to teach reporters on how to "interview" pets. And Gatehouse wonders why it went broke.

"Puppies!"
Which would come in handy for the Pet of the Week: "Spot lived a deprived puppyhood ..."

The editor's "apology" article was fine. It was sincere. And I appreciate the fact it was written, because I'm all for more transparency into how journalism is made, warts and all.

I do feel sorry for Pearl's family, though. They just tried doing a nice thing to memorialize their pet. As a fellow animal lover, I get it. And it is unfortunate this family was tangled up into this.

Sincere, yes, but I'm not giving this a pash: We publish a lot of content on a lot of platforms every day, so mistakes are inevitable.

I bet the old Plain Dealer, with a full staff including plenty of copy editors, actually could go days or weeks at a time without mashive mistakes despite publishing a lot of content.
