I could say a lot more, but this gives you the big picture.

There's no denying that Miami is one of the greatest sports locations in Florida. From the professional to the semi-professional, amateur and college level, sports plays a big role to the Miami audience and to the Miami Herald. Staying on top of everything requires a strong team, especially when sports continues to experience change in the wake of a pandemic.

The Miami Herald is looking for a deputy sports editor dedicated to working with talented journalists in a fast-paced, digitally focused newsroom in a region with this diverse range of professional and collegiate sports.

The successful candidate has the ability to plan and execute enterprising storytelling in a competitive media market that includes professional football, basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer, along with top tier college and prep teams. We're talking Dolphins, Heat, Marlins, Panthers, Inter Miami, University of Miami, Florida International University and some of the top high school programs in the country.

You will work with the sports editor and our regional growth team to focus on building the best digital platform for sports coverage in the country. This includes real-time reporting, analysis, narrative writing, podcasts and video, all with an emphasis on audience engagement across social platforms.

Apply here: McClatchy is looking for a great Deputy Sports Editor.

You will not find a better person than JD, unless he's changed in the 17 years since I left 1HP (and I doubt it). Loved my time working there and certainly with JD (and many others). The downside? No more spectacular views from 1HP of Biscayne Bay.

Pay range should be on the application. Would list it as competitive (unless the housing prices continue to go up). MileHigh, if you ever hear the beach calling, let us know. BVS has an empty next, you know.
