He shot an armed intruder while he was at home watching his younger siblings.

Good job by the kid, but I suspect we will find there is more to the story.

Breaking into a house at 4:30 in the afternoon with a loaded weapon seems like a really dumb move unless you are out to get somebody.

Good on him, but home invasions are virtually never random crimes.

Also probably not random that Pops had a gun and the kid knew where it was and how to use it. Something tells me there was something in the house besides the young'uns that dear old dad was trying to keep secure.

Cops seem to agree according to the story.

"This was mid-block in a neighborhood, at 4:30 in the afternoon in summertime and children are there," he said. "They just took a heck of a gamble for this particular house, and we've got to try to figure out why."

Orrrr... The father philosophically believes in owning guns for self-defense and home protection, properly trained his children in the event of an emergency and was rewarded in a crisis.

Guess I'm the exception to the rule.

Yeah, my family was also the exception to the rule. Amazing that we two rare exceptions happen to post on the same message board.
