Description:
If you are a sharp journalist and a sports fanatic, the News, an award-winning group of eight weekly newspapers covering suburban Las Vegas, might have a position for you on our six-person sports staff. With a circulation of more than 230,000, the News covers everything from high school sports to golf, outdoors, recreational sports, bowling and auto racing. We pride ourselves on quality journalism, and last year Suburban Newspapers of America named our sports section the best among large weeklies. We are looking for aggressive, hard-working reporters who know how to tell a story. We're after more than just nuts-and-bolts game stories. A degree in journalism or a related field is preferred. We prefer reporters with some experience but will consider qualified entry-level candidates. As part of Greenspun Media Group, we offer a competitive pay and benefits package. Please send resumes and relevant work samples to: Greenspun Media Group, Attn: Human Resources, 2290 Corporate Circle, Suite 250, Henderson, NV 89074. To apply via e-mail: jobs@gmgvegas.com

There were two positions, and one hasn't been filled yet. HR just kind of periodically reposts the ads.

Hint: Get a part-time casino gig. You'll need the extra cash and perhaps they'll swing a deal to let you rent a broom closet for six months.

I made it a year at $27k at a daily here not long ago... and I'm almost certain the News is starting folks at more than that.
