Andy Kim and Jeff Barry shared writing credits on "Sugar, Sugar."

Kim and "Rock Me Gently" were greatness in the late summer of 1974. He had a modest string of hit singles before that.

The Archies were Don Kirschner at his finest. He had put together The Monkees in an attempt to bring an "A Hard Day's Night" style show to TV and made out pretty well, but he got tired of dealing with the egos and increasing demands of the band. What to do? An animated show, with a band made up of faceless studio musicians. Much easier to control. Crazy demands? "Out you go, get me another guitar player."
