Bob Graham, former Florida governor and
U.S. senator with a common touch, dies at 87

Truly one of our best leaders and politicians.
And, by all accounts, a damn good guy, too.

RIP, Sir.

In Bob Graham's farewell speech to the U.S. Senate, he summed up his approach to the problems facing public servants in times of increasing partisanship – an approach that would guide his post-retirement push for civics education in the classroom.

"We must work together," he said, "to understand the problem and
then develop solutions which are driven by pragmatism, not ideology."

Never met the man, but saw his daughter, Gwen (now in the Biden Administration), give a keynote speech at a fundraiser. Also, he was a brother-in-law to Kay Graham. RIP, sir.

Gore chose Lieberman because Gore sought to separate himself from Bubba in the wake of Bubba's impeachment and rejected his support in general. Gore therefore lost in 2000 and also created a Palin-level mini-monster of its own on the left.
