"NO QUESTIONS ABOUT MR. BELIVDERE."

The only advice I was given before going to the Uecker media scrum before the 1997 home opener.

apparently, if anyone asked about the sitcom, he would end the group interview in the dugout.

I wasn't sure if I should post this, b/c admitting Mr. Belvedere was the topic of conversation the only time I spoke to Bob Uecker is kind of dorky. But Neutral's post confirms Bob was telling the truth.

Pretty sure this was 2001, b/c the Mets hosted the Brewers right after the death of Christopher Hewitt, who played the title character. I saw him in the dining room at Shea and said I was sorry to hear of Hewitt's pashing. Bob said Hewitt was a great person and I asked if he was still in touch with the cast. He said he talked to the kids regularly. As a TGIF fan, I thought that was pretty cool. And now, it's even cooler to know he was telling the truth.

Uecker and Rodney Dangerfield were a boxed exacta as supporting actors who absolutely carried iconic 80s sports movies. In our memories they got way more screen time than was actually the case because there was never a wasted note with either role.

No joy in Mudville or anywhere a baseball fan resides with Uecker's pashing. Really such a bright light in an often gloomy world. Obviously funny, I just hope he knew how adored he was and how much fun he brought to a sport that is incredibly lacking fun. Spent the day trying to imagine the perfect tribute to Ueck. I did like that the Brewers have a "Uecker Seats" section at Miller Park. Shoot, Rickey and Ueck within a month of each other? I hope Ted Giannoulas is doing ok.

"Will the next person who sees ANYBODY fork up a post on X, point them out and get them out of here. Ueck didn't broadcast in Cleveland; he broadcasted in Milwaukee!"
