Grand Opening. Grand Closing

CNN+ will shut down at the end of April - CNN

Perrette and incoming CNN CEO Chris Licht notified staffers of the decision in a meeting on Thursday afternoon. Licht bluntly told employees it was a "uniquely shirtty situation."

Hundreds of CNN+ staffers may lose their jobs. Licht said in an internal memo that "all CNN+ employees will continue to be paid and receive benefits for the next 90 days to explore opportunities at CNN, CNN Digital and elsewhere in the Warner Bros. Discovery family."

Basically they are blaming on the merger instead of the fact that it was a disaster out the gate with horrible sub numbers. They are on the hook for a lot of big contracts too. Chris Wallace and Kasie Hunt likely didn't come cheap.

This is an outlet dying that I didn't know was alive until now. Just from the name, it sounded like it was doomed. It's not like there aren't huge air pockets in 24/7 plain old CNN. Most days just don't have that much news. I have to think most folks said, "wait, I'm gonna pay extra for stuff that you didn't think was good enough for regular programming?"

You need a show/movie/library which people have to see, and they never advertised that. I'm surprised they didn't have the new season of the Tucci show as part of the rollout.
