RIP Crazy Joe Davola

CJD was one of the best played TV characters.
'Seinfeld' was very good at creating great characters with very little time spent developing them. The writers managed to introduce a character and quickly give him/her an interesting backstory in a manner that tied into the show and wasn't simple explication.

The mohel was my favorite 1-off character. I got to know Charles Levin who had some of the same neurotic characteristics as the butcher he played.

He and Jason Alexander apparently didn't get a lot on set.

Charles also died a strange death.

I wouldn't put Crazy Joe Davola in my top 30 of Seinfeld characters. Did nothing for me. I'd put him above the guy who cleaned Jerry's apartment (and his girlfriend) and above the Drake. They were zeros.

Just off the top of my head, the in and out minor characters who were head and shoulders above Joe Davola and the Drake (hate the Drake)

Mr. Bookman
Mr. Morgan
The girl who sold George the Russian Hat (Ca-Stan-Za!)
Mulva
Miloc
Ned Isakoff
Rebecca De Mornay
Toby

RIP and all.

Bookman is the clear No. 1 seed.

Man Hands is pretty good, too.

Also liked the Romanian gymnast. "What am I going to talk to her about? Ceausescu?"
