He'll always be Ilya Kuryakin to me. From the Man From UNCLE and teen heartthrob to long-winded pathologist on NCIS. Dead at 90.

He figured out how to get rid of the tunnel dirt in The Great Escape.

Coincidence. I ran up on a couple of tweets today about Stalag Luft III, the German prison camp where it happened. Someone had visited the site and took video as he walked along the route of the tunnel. It ran amazingly far. I wasn't able to find that particular tweet, but this is the start of the route. It runs probably 150 yards or so, much further than you would expect. There were also pictures of the memorial that the Luftwaffe officer who commanded the camp allowed the remaining prisoners to build in memory of the fifty of their comrades who were executed after their recapture. I found a couple of tweets that were similar. The tunnel was named "Harry" because if they were overheard talking about Harry it wouldn't draw attention the way the word "tunnel" would have.
