I worked at ESPN with Ed for a few years. I probably kept in touch with less than five people at ESPN when I left.

I never specifically noticed him and probably couldn't pick him out of a lineup — but I hope even one person will be so kind to me as the masses are to Ed on his untimely death.

Aschoff contracted pneumonia covering Ohio State's 56-27 victory over archival Michigan on Nov. 30, according to his Instagram page. He also tweeted about the illness, describing himself as someone "who never gets sick and has a very good immune system."
