RIP Jim Brown

"The pro game in the pop age had a number of superstars, but only one superman, and he was Jim Brown."

My pop was a huge Browns fan. We had long running argument when I was a kid about who was the best running back of all time. He had Brown of course. Walter Payton for me.

Best football player of all time. Payton, Rice and Lawrence Taylor are his peer group up at the very top of the mountain. PS: Not that quarterbacks aren't football players, but they're in a different game than the ones who deal and get dealt pain on every play.

One of the greatest NFL players. And a pretty solid actor, too.

His final "run" was among the best scenes in "The Dirty Dozen."
