RIP Jim Tunney

Officiated NFL games for 31 years, including three Super Bowls. Also involved in education in the Monterey Peninsula and did sports commentary for the Monterey Herald and KSBW TV.

Very methodical and had the unique holding signal. Great official and one of my all-time favorites. If he's not on the Mount Rushmore of NFL referees, he's damn close.

I see the Super Bowls he worked were quite early in the Super Bowl era, and that he was 95.

The alpha zebra of all zebras. Can't believe his first season was 1960 and last was 1990! Seemed like he was on the field for so many big NFL moments back in the day.
