Smoke up losers

Man, I loved the legal weed shops in Massachusetts and Maine. And Amsterdam. They were very helpful on what kind of high you wanted ... chill or energized. Knowledgeable. Actually much less dangerous than alcohol when relegated properly.

As is "a well regulated militia" and look how that's defined. I know, I know, apples and oranges. Just saying "regulated properly" is in the eye of the regulators!

I'd bet folding money that within five years this will be an urban legend at every middle and high school in America, with everyone swearing it happened two towns over.

Yazoo City? If he was still alive Jerry Clower would be doing a bit about the Ledbetter family getting into the magic brownies.

My edible experience to date had been pretty underwhelming - I pop these low-dose cherry mints every now and then that I don't mind - until about two weeks ago. Bought some different and more targeted gummies on a recent trip to Michigan.

Wife and I split a gummy (we're amateurs), but it had way more milligrams than I thought.

She had a pretty bad experience. Many of the hallmarks of being stoned, but also a healthy dose of paranoia to go with it. She grew up as your typical 80s Just Say No To Drugs kid and swore she'd never do weed ever. Once she did, I think she felt guilty about it and it manifested itself in not so fun ways. She also had no idea when it was going to wear off which is pretty unsettling your first time. I told her it was a couple hours, but she was skeptical, and frankly, since I hadn't done this particular brand before, so was I.

Me? I haven't been that buzzed from anything in probably 20 years at least. I wasn't as paranoid, because I've smoked my share of herb and partaken in edibles before, but I was worried for her and it heightened that sensation within me. Apart from that, I mean, fork me, it was a pretty intense, but not altogether unpleasant experience. I can't imagine what wallop a full gummy would pack.

A friend of mine has gone full California sober. I've smoked with her when I've visited her and her husband (one of my good golf friends) and the shirt she has packs a wallop. She left me with a parting gift the last time I was up there, a gummy from someone in California. I take edibles fairly frequently, but usually no more than 10 mg at a time, and usually half of that. I didn't think any better of it when I took a half of the gummy she gave me. Went to my usual happy hour spot on a Friday, popped half of the gummy, then slowly descended into something between madness and paralysis. Was so forking high my hands were shaking and I could barely move from my barstool. It was the most intense shirt I've ever dealt with, lasted a little more than an hour. Had to have a friend talk me down. Eventually snapped out of it, and looked at the packaging from the legal (in California) gummy the next day. It was a forking 50mg gummy, so I essentially took five times the dosage I was used to. It was honestly terrifying. Have been way more careful ever since.
