Dies at 49 after a 5 1/2-year battle with ALS
Kenneth Mitchell, 'Star Trek: Discovery' and 'Captain Marvel' actor, dies at 49 after ALS battle
He's mainly noted in this story for his work in the "Star Trek" franchise and MCU's "Captain Marvel," but I'll always remember him as Ralph Cox, the wisecracking player who was the last cut of the 1980 Olympic Hockey team in "Miracle."
I used the link above, but I first heard about this by a link to the E! Online story, in which the writer didn't even mention his "Miracle" role in the story. I'm not saying put it in the lead, but at least have in there somewhere.
Kind of weird to think that two real-life players from that team have outlived the actors who played them in a movie made 24 years after the fact: In addition to Mitchell, Michael Mantenuto, who played Jack O'Callahan died a few years ago.
