Corky wrote mainly about music for the Austin American-Statesman, Austin Chronicle, Dallas Morning News, and wrote for National Lampoon early in his career. He wrote two books about the history of Texas music and was wrapping up another about the history of Austin music.

A colleague with whom I teach was friends with Michael, and Corky came to talk to a group of journalism students several years ago, and was very gracious and patient with them. He knew Austin music better than anyone else. If you search his name on Facebook, you'll find hundreds of folks talking about his work and the impact he had.

From FB.

"There was very little that Micheal Corcoran didn't love or hate about music, and tell us all about it. Indifference was not an option. Appreciation meant a great deal. Criticism often meant he loved it the most and yet expected more from it. Nay, demanded it from those he felt that had it within them. That was his passion, it was also his profession." ~ Jean Dodge
