Running 2023-24 NCAA Basketball Thread

Rumor has it a lot of the Indiana State guys will follow the coach to Saint Louis. But I don’t follow the league closely enough to know. Undoubtedly a few will step up to power leagues.

Those guys are prime candidates to move to Sant Louis just b/c the new guy will like to have his core culture guys in place. I'd say they probably won't be a great A-10 team next year, but Cam Spencer started his career at Loyola (MD) and finished it as a core member of UConn's title team, so who knows?

Several will. Some of the others are going to command solid NIL and would be wise to test the market. Ryan Conwell being chief among them.

I learned that SEC schools aren’t that big when I was at Neyland Stadium and the fans around me assumed the MAC school I was rooting for had an enrollment of 5,000 or so.

“No, we’re around 20,000.” (pre-enrollment crisis for mid-sized colleges)

The fans seemed shocked there were dozens of 20k universities nestled between the Big Ten schools.

I think a lot of people would be surprised at MAC school enrollment figures.

A lot of people would be shocked that the cozy University of Arkansas has grown to close to 30K — largely because of enrollment caps in Texas. Same boost has happened at OU and Okie Lite.

Alabama was at 20,000 when I got to Tuscaloosa in the early 90s and there it sat for another 10-12 years until a new president and chancellor came in determined to ramp up out of state enrollment. Now it is around 37,000. Still puny compared to flagships up north but a shocking amount of extra bodies for me to comprehend on visits back.
