Sports Illustrated lays off most of its staff

Was almost everyone retained? How did that part work out?

Almost everyone. And it's happening in waves, probably by May we'll have all corners of the operation staffed again. Minute has been amazing in getting as many people on board as quickly as possible and able to do their jobs, considering how utterly unhelpful and damaging Arena was (and continues to be) after losing the license.

Things We Learned After It Was Too Late: I recall Arena (Maven) was welped as part of a special acquisitions company so, I guess, the already-wealthy "founders" could cash out rapidly. Or not, I don't feel like looking it up.
