Ted Lasso Season 2 Discussion (Includes Spoilers)

That was my general thought on no. 2 as well, The falling over the advertising boards was a strange bit of slapstick.

Right, but the exchange with Ted right before he did that.

Beard (slams hat): "shirt! Godforkingdamnit!"

Ted: "Cmon Coach, it is what it is."

Beard (in disgust): "Yeah ... it is what it is."

'Ted Lasso's Nick Mohammed Joins John Slattery's 'Maggie Moore(s)' – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE:
Nick Mohammed, best known for his role as the charming Nathan on the hit series Ted Lasso, has joined the cast of Maggie Moore(s), the film being directed by John Slattery and set to star Jon Hamm and Tina Fey. The film takes place in a dusty desert town where nothing ever happens, as a police chief is suddenly faced with the back-to-back murders of two women with the same name.

Mohammed will play a part philosopher, part wise-ass who makes jokes in inappropriate situations but only as a defense mechanism to protect himself from the worst parts of his job as a police officer. He seems to have a casual attitude toward his job, but he wants badly to be a good cop and earn the respect of his friend and mentor Chief Jordan Sanders (Hamm).

I saw an interview with the actor who plays Beard. He said he's constructed an entire backstory of the character involving him being on the road with Phish or DMB. So, basically, he's a Deadhead. The shrooms thing might not have been an accident.

I'm just going to state my Luddite appreciation for shows such as Ted Lasso and Reservation Dogs which release an episode a week instead of doing a season dump. I have an odd nostalgic satisfaction of having to wait for the appointed day, just like the days of yore. And, unlike ancient days when show were watch-it-or-lose-it, having those shows available for streaming at anytime after their release eliminates the danger of missing out.

Coach Beard gets the spotlight this week. Funky dream fever of an episode that includes raving and hula hooping deep in the guts of a church.

I mean...I don't have a drinking problem. Right now, in my house (where I live alone), I have at least 8 bottles of various hard liquor, 3 bottles of wine, about a 12-pack of various beers and mixers to make a variety of drinks.

Obviously, TL showed her with several bottles with Ted there to indicate that she might have a drinking problem. But having several bottles of alcohol in one's apartment doesn't necessarily designate that you've got a problem with alcohol.

Yesterday's episode was weird. Here's the thing: Apple added on two bonus episodes to the order after the season was written. Reddit's speculation that the two random episodes they added were the Christmas one and then this Beard one, since neither had much of anything to do with the actual season plotline.

Brendan Hunt's got some moves with a hula hoop though. I want more cameos with Thierry Henry as Beard's inner monologue. I do wish that it seemed less like he was having a nervous breakdown, because we've already got Ted off having panic attacks in therapy and Nate being completely unable to handle having a modicum of power. Who would have guessed that the ray of forking sunshine on the Richmond coaching staff would be Roy Kent?

I don't think it's even speculation at this point. If the Christmas episode and Beard After Dark aren't the add-on episodes, I'll eat my hat. They're so jarringly outside of the normal narrative of the show, they're impossible to really enjoy. There were funny moments in each, but it seems like neither did anything to advance the story.
