The 2024 running motorsports thread

Dang. Nothing like getting the pink slip after the holidays. Tiny little slip of a lady but more energy per pound than anybody else in the media center.

Claire B. was at every race I attended between 2003-2012, usually holed up in a tiny radio booth or straining to hold a mic in a group scrum. I'm not sure she ever was able to get outside and actually see cars running.

I have no idea what she did when not on the air, but it couldn't have been much since she devoted so much time to XM. Best of luck to her.

I've never understood the to-do about the Chili Bowl, other than everyone seems to want to drive in it nowadays. Cars going around a quarter-mile fake oval inside an arena… just meh. Then again I like Martinsville, so I could be off my rocker. Open to changing my mind.

The Chili Bowl was one of those racin' deals I kinda wanted to see when I was in the business, but at this point I can safely say I'll never go to Tulsa in January. And I'm good with that.

And looking at the @2muchcoffeeman calendar again, didn't know they added a second NHRA 4-wide race in Vegas. Awesome.

From Lang's post, I take it as she isn't necessarily just leaving SXM. It's leaving racing coverage.
Is that correct?

They're axing the entire Nascar channel?

The way she said "changes in direction in the channel" is what made me think they were at least doing something different.
I very well could be misinterpreting it. I've made mistakes before. If they were just getting rid of her for someone new, why not make that happen at the end of the season instead of a month before Daytona?
When Gastonia decided to stop coving NASCAR, I'm pretty sure Monte was called in right after a race and told they were pulling the plug.
Again, I may be mixed up on all of it.

I have no idea why, but Tulsa chili is virtually identical to Cincinnati chili. Just thought I'd share.
