Top ranked press boxes

Any press box with 15-year-old girls handing out stats would be one person's favorite. The press box tattle tale thread had the info on that.

Stitch,

Chris Hansen would like a word with you.

Fresno State's press box always looks great early in the season...then, later on, you get up there and see that there wasn't much to be excited about after all.

I don't think Texas A&M and Wisconsin should be considered since they've been known to shake.
It's because those press boxes have proven over the years to be frauds.

Yes, enjoyed Texas A&M until the thing started to move. Steve's got a shaky stomach. But I did make sure not to walk on the field afterwards.

The SWAC would be more hilarious, micke, if we didn't have to actually deal with some of these places. The Jackson State web site once had football rosters that were two seasons removed from being accurate. And we once got our Alcorn State football media guide in early November because they had some sort of payment dispute with the printer.

And yes, Chuck Prophet was the SID/AD/all-around guru for that game. Super nice guy, in all seriousness. Just didn't have much to work with, and was spun from that country folk cloth.

the one year I dealt with Alcorn State the SID never even bothered to do a media guide.

Homemade ice cream at Mississippi State (don't know if they do that all the time).

When they roll out the ice cream freezer at Jordan-Hare in the third quarter. Straight Mayfield, baby.

Yeah, I like ice cream. And from the looks of others sports writers, I ain't the only one.

This is many years ago, but I loved when the "Cookie Fairy" would bring oatmeal raisin cookies to those in Memorial Stadium's press box in Austin. God Bless Jones Ramsey.

see the entire big 12 south.

There aren't enough press boxes of color in college football.

Too many plain white press boxes.

Not cool.

I covered the last home game of the season at Oklahoma State a few years back. After we filed our stories we went out to eat and saw a little bit of what Stillwater had to offer (not much). Then we saw them taking the wrecking ball to the press box on the way out of town.

At least they waited until after the game to bring out the wrecking ball. ;D
