From what I know about Fitzgerald, he went to Hollywood and was earning really good money at the height of the depression. ... even though he continued that pattern of spending way more than he earned. Him and Zelda were out of control. As a writer, there were actually others who were being paid more than him. When he hit Hollywood in the 1930s, though, he was earning some very serious bank for the time.

Nah. That was true maybe 10/15 years ago. Now the most important artists - according to these sites of which you speak - are all pretty big superstars. Mostly in rap/hip-hop.
