Vermont. The new Winona State

A generalization, yes, but there have been a disturbing number of hockey scandals in which coaches have either proven to be abusive tyrants (Keenan, Babcock) or looked the other way when abuse took place in their locker rooms. As mentioned, Katey Stone jumped out the airlock for a little of both.

This isn't even the first scandal involving the Vermont hockey program, as their administration flushed most of a season in the late 90s due to a disgusting hazing scandal.

There is a lot of hockey culture that reinforces authoritarianism and enduring bad treatment, even if it's criminal in nature or totally unrelated to the team.

The evidence may not go beyond anecdotes but there is a problem in the sport that needs to be reckoned with.
