Vice Media Files For Bankruptcy

Vice always felt so "all over the place" to me. Like, excellent oral histories or long-form journalism, next to columns from people about scoring coke. (And sometimes, a mixture of both!) Even now, here are the three latest stories they've published:
  • The Right Has Raised $2 Million For the Guy Who Choked a Homeless Man To Death
  • Drunk People Tell Us the Pettiest Thing They've Ever Done
  • In the Philippines, Chinese-Filipino Couples Face a Great Wall

The only question now is, which right-wing dipship billionaire will buy it to use as his personal megaphone?

Wrote a few stories for them so went and saved them now just in case. I liked writing for them, but waiting 11 months to get a check for 750 bucks (which was two stories worth as well)...not quite as fun.

Vice as a TV channel seemed a little bit ahead of itself. It came from an alt/skater magazine. It used a lot of free money, but never had a good position in cable tv. The consumers who made the magazine were not all that many and were never going to support the tv brand as they got older.
