What difference does it make? If it doesn't gibe with your opinion, you'll get pissy. And so the people who don't reinforce your prejudices don't "get it." No, dude, you don't get it. It's called a free exchange of ideas. I don't give a shirt if you don't like my opinion. But writing "Thanks for chiming in" is a bench-ass thing to write on a message board.
Maybe the proper response was to post a video by Wilco that you particularly like. Maybe I just haven't heard the right ones. I mean, if the first album you ever gave me by Radiohead -- a band I like a lot -- were Kid A or even their last two albums, I would probably say the same thing about "not getting them." I mean, I don't for one listen to a band's entire discography before saying I don't like their stuff. Who has time for that? Which is why you go to a site like this where you hope that the opinions of people can help you curate your engagement with music, sports, etc.Guy who posts to say, "I've never understood" is citing the "free exchange of ideas."
Well, exchange away. What kind of music do you like?
Thanks for chiming in.Radiohead sucks.
Wilco has nothing that approaches "Electioneering," "There There," "Fake Plastric Trees," "Karma Police," "Creep," "My Iron Lung" or "Black Star." Some of Radiohead is just awful, but some of it absolutely rocks. If such things exist in the Wilco catalog, I would love to hear it.To clarify, Radiohead plays pretentious music that sounds bad. The latter being a real breaker for me when it comes to my listening preferences.
At least Wilco's pretentiousness sounds good.
I like Wilco AND Radiohead!
Weirdo.
