I'll put this Casserly quote along with the Mike Lombardi quote saying that Doug Pederson is less qualified to coach a team than anyone he's ever seen in his 30-plus years in the NFL.

Well, you've got the coaches who he hung out to dry, the coaches who were turned down by the Colts, the playoff assistant coaches who won't be considered for gigs because teams won't want to wait or risk getting jilted, the extra layer of BS every prospective coach will have to go through in negotiations - pretty much locking in on a gig before getting to the numbers - yeah - I can understand other assistants being ticked.

The Doug Pederson thing was weird. How many coaches have been birthed into the league working under only one coach or team? More than you would think.

The more I read, the more I think the team is going to lock up Bell long term. I still think it is a terrible idea. The guy has been suspended for violations of the league's drug policy twice, last year broke a streak of three seasons ended early by injury and his average per carry dropped dramatically in 2017.

Also, all of the offensive talent in the world isn't going to matter if they don't get help for the defense. They are a mess at inside linebacker and safety. They can't just rely on the draft to fix those problems and it's foolish to think Shazier will be back.

I'm as cynical as anybody, but isn't it possible that in the end he really didn't want to yank his family from New England, where they are comfortable and stable, to Indianapolis? I know that goes against what we are used to from coaches, but reportedly it factored heavily.

Suddenly coaches who spend 180 hours a week at the office are concerned about the comfort and stability of their families?

If he didn't want to yank his family away, the time to consider that is before you say yes to the job and screw over a bunch of people. He's no novice at this.

I don't blame the Pats for wanting to keep him , but the time for him to get a final answer from the Pats is before you say yes to the Colts.
