Print is dead. While Gannett and others waste money and resources trying to squeeze out a couple extra pennies from washed-up advertisers, Advance is actually taking steps to keep the business alive.
Former colleague of mine said that the new head of the Gannett news division did a site visit to Nashville a couple weeks ago and warned editors that 2023 outlook is bleak.
I don't see any argument for keeping print editions. Get rid of them and you get rid of costs of newsprint, delivery, etc. Would be good for the business.
Why waste time creating an agate page when people can just go to ESPN.com or any number of websites and get that same info in a much more user-friendly form?
Gannett finally stops clinging to the past and does something with an eye on the future.
